Ella Brennan: Commanding the Table

As we always say at Compeat… we have the coolest customers!  We want to give a special shout out to one of Compeat’s original customers, Commander’s Palace.  Commander’s Palace has been a New Orleans’ landmark since 1880, known for the award-winning quality of its food and outstanding service. Today, Commander’s is not only a New Orleans staple but also one of the most recognizable restaurants in the nation.

Netflix has released a documentary illustrating Ellen Brennan’s remarkable journey entitled Commanding the Table.  The film walks us through the amazing story of a pioneering female restaurateur.  From her steady upward climb during a time when fewer women were professional restaurateurs, through persevering through family turmoil, to her bravely rebuilding after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Ella’s determination never waivers.  She grows from a teenage girl working in her brother’s bar to become the original celebrity chef, later mentoring chefs like Paul Prudhomme and Emeril Lagasse.

You can watch the full documentary on Netflix “Ella Brennan: Commanding the Table“.

This movie is filled with great lessons on how Ella understands the intricate details of the restaurant business.  The history and philosophy that has sustained Commander’s Palace for over a century will continue to sustain it for years to come, and we are proud to be a part of that legacy!

Commander’s Palace implemented Compeat Advantage in May 2002.  Here are a few of the benefits they have said about their experience using Compeat software:

“Compeat allows us to operate lean and mean!” – Arlene Nesser Chief Financial Officer

“In Compeat, we can drill down on virtually anything to quickly get the information we are looking for. This is a huge time savor in our daily operations.” – Arlene Nesser Chief Financial Officer

“We realized that we were doing the same tasks required to process payroll with Compeat; we were paying another company simply to print checks.” – Peggy Boutte Human Resources Manager
