Business challenges

Native, like many mid-size franchise brands, was spending too much time managing their various franchise locations and the franchisees were spending too much time on reporting.  Their main priority is to make their franchisors successful, which is nearly impossible to do without quick accurate data.

When numbers did not match up, they would have to wait a week – or up to a month in some cases – to check the data again in order to find inconsistencies.  They needed a system that allows franchisees to be able to make their own changes and be responsible for their own businesses so that all parties could spend less time reporting and more time strategically working on their business.

“We were using manual food costing and inventory systems along with a competitor’s product to help with reporting, but the workload was too cumbersome and time consuming,” states Steve Snyder, Native Grill and Wings Franchising, LLC.  “With Compeat, everyone wins.  Our franchisees have the freedom to run their businesses themselves, making informed decisions based on their own real-time data.”


By implementing a core group of Compeat modules the central office spends considerately less time managing the stores and is able to focus more on future growth and profitability.  The base suite includes GL Sales, Inventory, Accounts Payable, Recipes, Schedules, Advanced Labor Scheduling, and franchisees are able to add on modules as they see fit.

The results

Native Grill & Wings switched to Compeat in January of 2016 and have been extremely pleased with the results they have seen.  A key factor in their success is that the central office is able to see store data both as a whole and at the store level in real time.  “Our previous solution would only allow our reports to be viewed as one company,” says Snyder. “We needed to find a reliable system that lets each franchisee run their own business independently, using different GL codes, reporting structures, and more on their own schedule; without having to depend on the central office.”

Both the central office and franchisee no longer has to spend countless hours managing reports. They can all view data in real-time, however, whenever, and wherever they want to.  Operators run their business as their own, even working directly with the Compeat team when necessary. “The time savings alone is invaluable,” adds Snyder.
