Payroll Definitions
Compeat provides a wizard to walk you through the various steps of processing a payroll. First you pick a pay period ending date and a pay date (a date to print on the paychecks). Then you select the pay frequencies and pay periods you want to include in the batch, and generate the employee time records. You have the opportunity to review these records, generated from each employee's particular settings in Compeat as well as from their entered or polled time records, before proceeding. This is a good double-check of record accuracy before the paychecks are issued (there are other inspections as well, later in the process).

Enter Temporary Deduction / Earnings Codes
For each employee with a special, one-time deduction or earning, you can enter the appropriate code and dollar amount. Regularly scheduled deductions and earnings are included automatically in payroll calculations, based on settings for each employee entered on the Employees screen's Deductions/Earnings tab.

Print Checks / Post Batch
This last step of the wizard for processing a payroll is actually a series of sub-steps where you generate and review payroll records, print the payroll checks (with the opportunity to re-print checks printed too poorly to use), and post the payroll batch of records to the proper accounts, where you can view and print the batch from the Payroll Register at any future time. When you generate the payroll records, Compeat not only computes the taxes for each employee based on their individual settings; it also calculates what moneys are needed to bring each employee up to the minimum wage, in the case of those employees paid at rates below minimum wage who don't have enough tip income to come up to the minimum rate level. Both calculations are viewable in a report that you can either review online or print out for study.
